Making Sneakers Cool Again

Since I'm in Vegas this week it's been a nice change to ditch the jackets. It's been a little cooler here than I was hoping but I keep reminding myself how much colder it will be when I get home.

I don't know about you but whenever I throw on a pair of casual sneaker style shoes, I immediately feel a bit frumpy. Maybe it's the fact that in terms of comfort it's a complete change from my other shoes or that there's no heel that instantly makes me walk taller. Whatever the case may be, I tend to pair my sneakers with clothes that fall in line with that frumpy vibe. Old t-shirts, hoodies, and what not. Outfits that scream more couch potato than street style. How about you?

However, it doesn't always have to be that way. They are making sneakers so much more fashionable & cute these days. I mean, c'mon these Gucci's are amazing (#dreaming). One of my favorite ways to turn casual frump into casual chic is to add black. Black is already a power color on it's own and immediately dresses up anything you pair with it. Another option is to add some texture like leather or suede. Personally, I opt for neutrals with this look as it keeps it more clean and sharp.

I opted for my black skinnies (non-distressed, I know the horror), a striped turtleneck, and threw on my leather jacket for a mix of casual cool.  I can run errands all over the city but also hit up dinner looking fresh to death ;)
