At Home Training Resources

We are all currently impacted right now living through this Coronavirus pandemic. None of us could have fathomed or predicted how this would alter and change the course of our daily lives. Things we used to be able to do, and most likely took for granted, have now halted. We all have been forced to find alternative ways and resources to continue living our lifestyle no matter what that is.

The impact of businesses having to close in order to ensure social distancing rules means that we are all stuck finding online resources. Luckily, with social media and the Internet, online training is more widely available and there is really something for everyone. For those of you that are fortunate to live on a decent amount of land where you have your own outdoor space and possibly a range it might not be a huge shift for you. But for others that solely rely on local ranges or training facilities are now faced with a new problem. How can we get in our training within the walls of our home? More so than ever I think this time of uncertainty has made those of us that live a self-reliant lifestyle thankful that we chose that path. However, we know that the self-reliant lifestyle doesn’t come easy. It requires time, dedication, and training.

I wanted to share some online resources that I have come across that you can reference while you are at home to continue to educate and train yourselves. I will continue to update this list as I find more resources. Feel free to send along any of your own recommendations too and I will add them in.

firearm safety

First and foremost I’m going to share firearm safety resources because with the rise of new gun owners this is the first place to start, and honestly, it never hurts to have a refresher on these rules even if you are a seasoned gun owner.

  • To visually see the Four Rules of Firearm Safety demonstrated watch this video from Warrior Poet Society. Although I don’t care for the part that he holstered in his pocket without a proper holster but I liked how he demonstrated the rules. It was simple and easy to visually understand.

  • Gun Owners of America has also published an IGTV video on Pistol Safety that is another great informational video to watch.

  • With children also being home from school now is a great time to talk to your children about firearm safety. If you are struggling with that conversation be sure to watch this video from the NSSF about talking to kids about gun safety.
