The Warmest Parka

The only words running through my head during these last couple of weeks have been curse words. Each time I've reluctantly stepped out of the house, it's been frigid. It's been a temperature I've not experienced in my life. With wind chills in DC, we were down in the negative temps. It was not fun being outside and I really only left the house because I had to. I was out of coffee, that is an emergency ;) I take my hat off to you where this is the norm for the winter. I don't know how you live through it but this old bird is ready to retire to the sunshine state.

Since retirement isn't really an option right now, luckily I have this parka to help get me through these frozen winters. I can't say enough good things about this parka. It's really been the best $300 I've ever spent. For years, I wanted a parka with a fur trimmed hood. I shopped around and never found one that I liked or felt was warm enough. Finally, last year, I decided it was time and there are no regrets here. I only tried this on about a dozen times over the past few years. Since I do a lot of walking and take public transportation, I'm outside a lot. While we may not have lots of days that are in the teens and single digits, we have them enough that being prepared by having the proper jacket has been a game changer. This coat saved me last week; I was even sweating by the time I got to work. It's down filled so it's super warm and has plenty of pockets for easy access to whatever you need.

The hood is also amazing for those blustery days and when it's snowing; it keeps the snow and wind off your face. However, I typically only wear the hood when I'm with my husband. It completely shields your peripheral view and muffles sound. Which makes me feel less aware as I can't hear and quickly see what's happening around me...always gotta be aware of your surroundings, ladies. I will wear the hood if it's really bad out but then I'm just extra alert.

I am seriously hoping that this isn't a sign for the winter to come.  If it is, I can probably just repeat this outfit post on SMT because it's all I'll be wearing.
