I can't believe we are in August already...this summer is flying by. Luckily our insanely hot days have been minimal this year compared to basically every other summer in DC. Hopefully I'm not jinxing us here. With that said, it means that I haven't had to break out the shorts that often and I don't mind that one bit.

While I tend to wear a lot of black throughout the year, especially in the fall/winter seasons, I tend to lighten up the color palette come summer. Sticking with whites and neutral tones feels fresh and light, which is exactly how you want to feel when the temps start to rise. Going head to toe all black might look chic but unless you want to bake, I say stick to black for the evenings.

You know that I love a good layering piece so this denim vest is a great addition to the look. While it's still casual for summer it makes the outfit look more pulled together. I like to opt for light denim washes in the summer as well to keep that light feeling going.

What's your summer color palette look like? Do you stick with brights, neutrals, or darks?
