One of my go-to methods of layering is tying a button down shirt around my waist. Call it an homage to my inner grunge girl but it's a styling technique that's both practical and fashionable.
Often times when I'm heading out and wearing something a bit more simple like a black tee, I'll throw a button down shirt around my waist and use it as an accessory to the outfit. The bonus is that if I get cold, which I often do, I have an extra layer I can throw on. The opposite works just as well in the case of this outfit. I was wearing the button down but was too warm so I tied it around my waist instead of carrying it. Afterall, I need at least one of my hands for coffee, right?!
I usually stick to pattern plaids & flannels but I picked up this solid grey button down so I could specifically wear it with camo and other prints. The solid grey is a nice compliment to the muted camo on this jacket. I was so happy to break out this jacket last weekend because we had Spring-like temps...in February. This weather is crazy but I'm not complaining one bit. A good field jacket, whether in a solid color or in a camo print is such a great seasonal transition piece. I love to have a few variety of fits so I just bought this one too as it's a bit longer and more fitted.
What's your take on the shirt around the waist? Is this something you would wear?
