My #NSale Purchases & Sizing Tips

The #NSale finally opens to the public today so it's shopping heaven for all. Last year I did a recap of some of the things I bought with some recommended sizing tips and you guys found it really helpful so I wanted to do another one.

I've shopped this sale online almost everyday and I've been to three Nordstrom's to check it out. To be honest, I'm pretty disappointed this year. It's not as good as last year in my opinion but could be because the items being offered aren't speaking to me as much. The shoe selection is mediocre for my taste. Don't get me wrong though, there are definitely many great items and great prices from essentials to on-trend pieces to add to your closet. But for me, there were less, 'OMG I want this' type items, which is not a bad thing at all. Usually I find 50 things I want and this year it was probably more like 10. My wallet and closet is thankful for that for sure.

Below are all of the items I bought between my store and online visits. Like I said, there wasn't a lot that I loved but a few did catch my eye. You can see a theme of jackets but that shouldn't be much of a surprise if you follow SMT. As with last year everything seems to oversized specifically tops and jackets so I've had to size down on all those items. This can make ordering online a bit of pain because sizing can be off. Hopefully, my sizing tips helps.

I also want to thank you all for participating in my Nordstrom Giftcard Giveaway. The winner was announced in the giveaway post.

Zella High Waist Moto Leggings {Sale: $49.90 | After Sale: $75 | Size: Medium} The Nordstrom Zella brand makes really cute and quality althletic wear so when I saw these moto leggings on sale I knew I would be scooping them right up. I had been eyeing the Alo moto leggings ones but these are over 50% cheaper so that's a win. They fit true-to-size and are super comfortable. They also come in black.

Barefoot Dreams Cozychic Lite Hooded Cardigan {Sale: $75.90 | $114 | Size: Small} If you've never felt the fabric of the Barefoot Dreams items you are missing out. It's the coziest, comfiest, and most plush fabric especially for lounging. This hooded cardigan will be perfect for lounging all year long. I picked up the carbon color but it also comes in three other colors. They have several more Barefoot Dreams items on sale too that if this longer style cardigan isn't your cup-of-tea, you'll be able to find something that is.

Treasure & Bond Ruffle Trim Jacket {Sale: $52.90 | After Sale: $79 | Size: Small} Is this not the cutest little jacket/cardigan ever?! It's got a little bit of that bomber edge with a feminine twist. I absolutely love it. I went with a small and it was fitted with room. However, if you want to wear sweaters underneath then you'll want to size up because the sleeves are definitely more fitted that the body.

Vince Camuto Francia Bootie {Sale: $99.90 | After Sale: $149.95 | Size: 8.5} I can't believe I only bought one pair of shoes. There weren't any that were speaking to me but I've been looking for a cute heeled neutral colored bootie to wear. The slit ankle will make these a perfect seasonal-transition bootie. I purchased the color Foxy which is a great neutral that will go with a lot things. The heel height is only 3.25" so they are good walkable height and they fit true-to-size. I know some women like to size up in their boots so they can wear thicker socks. However, for this specific pair that has the ankle shaft opening will look like you have gap between your heel and the back of the heel shaft.

Rails Embroidered Military Shirt {Sale: $124.90 | After Sale: $188 | Size: Small} This is such a cute layering piece and the floral embroidery is such a fun touch. I plan to wear it open and not buttoned but either way I would suggest sizing down because it runs oversized.

Chelsea28 Military Bomber Jacket {Sale: $85.90 | After Sale: $129 | Size: Small} I mean c'mon, obviously I had to have this. To be honest, this was the first item I saw and bought. In all fairness it really doesn't look that great online but in person it's so cute. The green is so pretty and the band jacket/military details are such a great detail.  I sized down to a small and still have some room in the body.

Rails Hunter Plaid Shirt {Sale: $99.90 | After Sale: $148 | Size: Small} Classic plaid shirts will get you far in the cooler months. Great forr layering, wearing on their own, or tied around the waist. You can go wrong with a plaid. I got the onyx charcoal and it's a nice change up to an all black top. It's soft and also runs big so size down.

Honeydew Intimates Lounge Sweatshirt {Sale: $31.90 | After Sale: $54 | Size: Large} Even though this is technically lounge-wear, you can easily wear this sweatshirt out which is what I intend to do. The camo is a nice muted faded pattern. The material is thinner than your normal sweatshirt but it's still very comfy. I ended up ordering a large after trying the small and medium. I would definitely size up depending on how baggy you like your sweatshirts.

Caslon Asymmetrical Drape Collar Terry Jacket {Sale:$124.90 | After Sale: $188.00 | Size: Small} You can't beat a good wrap and/or cardigan. Nordstrom has this labeled has a jacket but it's more of a zippered cardigan. However, instead of being woven like a sweater the material is more like a sweatershirt. The length and asymmetrical zipper is a nice change to your standard "cardigan". This is a great piece to wear to keep you warm while traveling or to take with you to the many family get-together's this upcoming holiday season. I got the black in a small and there is still room through the body but it's more fitted through the arms.

AG The Legging Raw Hem Ankle Skinny {Sale: $149.90 | $225 | Size: 27} I'm always looking for new jeans and unfortunately my go-to brand Rag and Bone didn't have any that I liked. However, I've had great luck with my AG jeans. I figured it was about time to add some non-distressed jeans to my closet. The wash is bit lighter in person that online but still very nice. I ordered my normal AG size, which is a size down from my normal 28. I find that AG jeans stretch out more than my Rag and Bones so a 27 helps to keep them nice and skinny.

Additional #NSale Tips

  • I just checked the #NSale this morning and all the items I bought are still in stock but some of the sizes are limited. However, for items they have but don't have your size, you can buy it in whatever size they have to secure the anniversary sale pricing. You can then take it to your local Nordstrom and have them check availability at other stores during and after the sale. If they have it in stock after the sale, you can exchange it for the size you need and you'll still get that anniversary price. This might seem like a ton of hassle but if it's an item you really want, it's totally worth it.

  • If you are in between sizes or unsure of how a larger or smaller version of the item will fit, don't return the size you have unless you know right off the bat it's way too small or large. It's easier to determine what size will work if have the smaller/larger one available to try on & compare. I like that reassurance knowing I chose the right size especially when brands are making items oversized.

  • I noticed that there are some items that are backordered and won't ship until after the sale is over. If you buy them now you will still get the anniversary price even though they won't ship until after the sale is over.

I would love to know what items you pick up from the #NSale.  Happy Friday & Happy Shopping. Also, you can get all the SMT scoop on the #NSale here. I'm be sharing a couple more posts until it ends.
