It seems like everywhere you turn these days everything from home goods to fashion items have been adorned with some sort of stud or spike. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all about it and not to brag but I was all about it waaaayyy before it came trendy.  What I've found is that studded items can either go insanely right or terribly wrong.

I'm all about donning a few studs as its an easy way to give any outfit a bit of edge. And with everything in life it's all about moderation. So here are a few simple "rules" to keep in mind when adding this embellishment:

  • Opt for studs that match the base color of your item. Similar as I did with my clutch & shoes. This won't be as flashy as metal studs against your chosen leather and will tones down an edgier look.

  • Don't over stud. If you're rocking a full studded leather jacket then let that be the shining star of your outfit. However, if you are only going with the accessories don't be afraid to wear a couple pieces that will help tie the look together.

  • Think tasteful not teenage angst when picking out studded accessories or clothes. But most importantly have fun with it.

Studs or spikes can come in many different forms. If it's something you want to try but feel unsure, start with a clutch or shoes with smaller grommet details to ease your way in.

Have a great day & thanks so much for reading.
