I had such a relaxing and chill time in Cancun last week but alas, I’m back. Sadly, the adult responsibilities must continue on. It was a very needed mental break. It felt so good to just sit on the beach under a palapa and just do nothing. It felt great to wake up early (like before the sunrise) on my own time because I wanted to and not because I had to. I got to finally read The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker. It was sitting in my Amazon cart for a long time and I’m so glad I decided to purchase it for this trip. Have you read it? If not, definitely give it a read. It’s about recognizing the signs of potential danger and trusting your instincts. I dogeared so many pages that I want to go back and reference.
Well now I’m back to the normal grind and I’m trying to not work as many hours and have a little bit of balance. It’s still insanely busy but the vacation gave me a little bit of perspective and realization that there is only so much I can do. I have other priorities (aka SMT and my personal sanity) so I’m hoping I can get back on a decent work/life balance by the end of the month. Fingers crossed.
One of the best parts about a beach vacation is how little needs to be packed. Both my husband and I fit all we needed in one suitcase. A few dresses, shorts, bathing suits, and sandals and I was set. I definitely wore all my outfits or combination of them a few times during the week.
