In-Flight Beauty Essentials

We are officially into vacation season and while the luxury and excitement of flying is a thing of the past, you can still have a first class in-flight beauty routine.

We all know that flying is stressful not only to our minds but also to our skin. The dry, stale, and germ filled cabin air circulates over and over again wreaking havoc on our skin. The airplane environment depletes our skin of the much needed moisture which leads to wrinkles and is only made worse by jet-lag. And sorry, I'm not down with that one bit. I've traveled enough to find a line-up of products that are my go-to's when flying the friendly skies that makes my skin one less thing to worry about. The key is that it's all about hydration from the inside and out. It seems that hydration is the answer to almost anything.

Face Wipes | Philosophy Purity Made Simple
Don't discount facial wipes as they offer a fast fix for removing makeup or cleansing off the plane air residue without a sink. It's important to choose a facial wipe that won't strip your skin but also provides good cleansing.

Eye/Face Sheet Mask | Karuna Renewal Eye Mask & Sephora Collection Eye Masks / Dr. Jart+ Water Replenishment Mask & Sephora Collection Face Mask
Eye and face sheet masks are a quick and easy way to feed your skin lots of hydration in a short amount of time. Depending on the duration of your flight you ,may only opt for an eye mask but if you've been 30,000 feet up for a few hours or longer opting for a full face mask is the way to go. While it's not the most discreet option and you definitely will get some odd looks from your surrounding passengers, these sheet masks offer up the moisture your skin so desperately needs. An eye mask is also a great option during every flight as they not only help with hydration they will also help fight any puffiness caused by the dry air. You'll arrive looking awake and alert rather than tired and jet-lagged.

Eye Cream | Chanel Hydra Beauty Eye Gel & Kahina Giving Beauty Eye Serum
In flight is the perfect time to layer on those heavier eye creams that you normally save for night use. The sample packets that you get from your favorite beauty supplier are more than enough to keep those lids and bags hydrated.

Lip Balm | Bite Beauty Lip Mask
The skin on our lips is thinner than the rest of our face so they tend to loose hydration quicker. Keep them hydrated with a good thick emollient lip balm.

Moisturizer/Face Oil | Boscia Black Hydration GelLa Bella Figura Barbary Fig Seed Oil
Whether you prefer a traditional moisturizer or a facial oil, slather your favorite on to your clean face after you've applied your mask. Whatever moisturizers you use in your daily beauty routine will work fine here.

Facial Mist | Evian Facial Water Spray
This is one of those essentials that you didn't think you needed or loved until you don't have it anymore. To be courteous of your seat mates, opt for one that is non-fragrant and has a soft controlled spray. The Evian spray is just water and the stream is a very light mist but it still provides a nice layer of hydration without bothering the surrounding passengers. Facial mists are also amazing at the beach.

Sometimes you also need to look a little more presentable when you step off the plane. If I don't have to do a full makeup routine in flight I do like to apply some of my beauty favorites so I'm not scaring off anyone I'm meeting. At a minimum I apply concealer, mascara, fill my eyebrows, and use my multi-stick for cheeks and lips. Additionally, I'll give my hair a quick spritz of dry shampoo to freshen it up. However, I usually apply the dry shampoo in the bathroom once I've disembarked the plane. I also like to bring my own water bottle that I can fill with water from the flight attendants because moisture starts from within. It's so important to hydrate before, during, and after the flight.

Besides ensuring that you are prepared for your summer travels, being properly equipped with some in-flight beauty essentials will help hit the ground running when you land whether it's straight to a business event, meeting up with family & friends, or straight to cocktails on the beach.
